Last Friday, I went to Japantown and found this lovely fruit picker. It has a long-reaching arm that will be perfect for harvesting up high plums this late spring.
This is the fruit of the loquat tree. Loquats should be ready for harvest in late May and early June, if not before. They have a sweet-sour acquired taste and skin that is velvet-y like the peach, and can be found in many East Bay neighborhoods.
