Over the next ten weeks, I am trying to organize a series of neighborhood walks in different Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco neighborhoods with the idea of identifying edible forage-ables. I would love to take a walk or bike ride around your immediate neighborhood and map out the edibles. As we canvass the neighborhood, we will also hand deliver invitations to your neighbors (with front or backyard edibles) to join Forage Oakland::Forage San Francisco. Please email me and tell me your availability. Also, we should allot between one and two hours for this mapping project.

Hey there-
I'd love to do a walk round my neighborhood. There's so much stuff. Even dandelion greens are shooting up willy nilly in the sidewalks. Also, our rasberries are coming in.

Could you help me identify the fruit that is on the picture of this post? I think I ate it yesterday - it was yellow, with 1-3 big hard seeds (similar to litchi) and delicious!
It's starting to ripe now in Berkeley.
This is a loquat! The skin is similar to a peach, somewhat fuzzy and soft. The fruit can be a bit tart and is very delicious. Loquat trees are cultivated all over the Bay Area and the fruit is ripe right now!
